AWARD CATAGORIES
ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AWARD presented by Kennametal Inc. recognizes accomplishments in the areas of manufacturing and materials processes which have led to significant business, economic or societal benefits for this region.
CATALYST AWARD presented by Pittsburgh Technology Council recognizes excellence in promoting public awareness of scientific issues with a demonstrated track record for advancing science in society and fostering measurable, beneficial change.
CORPORATE INNOVATION AWARD* recognizes a company environment that encourages and supports innovation in any science and technology category.
EDUCATOR AWARDS recognize innovation in science and technology education at each of the following four levels: Elementary Educator presented by Eaton; Middle Level Educator presented by Westinghouse Electric Company; High School Educator*; and University/Post-secondary Educator presented by PPG Industries Foundation. Educators are recognized for innovation demonstrated by their ability to inspire students to understand, appreciate and apply science. Candidates must have three years teaching experience.
ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS recognize two entrepreneurs who have successfully commercialized research in science and technology to develop businesses and create jobs. Each award focuses on a different stage of the company life cycle: Start-up Entrepreneur* recognizes leadership in developing a promising innovation in an early-stage company; and Entrepreneur presented by New Perspective recognizes demonstrated long-term success in a more mature organization.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD presented by Eaton recognizes outstanding achievements in the fields of environmental protection or restoration that benefit the economy, health and quality of life in our region.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AWARD presented by Fisher Scientific recognizes development and/or implementation of an information technology based solution resulting in significant business impact.
LIFE SCIENCES AWARD presented by Pittsburgh Business Times recognizes and honors scientific advancements in new and innovative biomedical and life sciences enterprises.
MEDIA AWARD* recognizes excellence in presenting science and technology news and issues via any medium.
STUDENT RECOGNITION Winners of the 66th annual Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair are recognized in the following categories: Junior Division presented by Bombardier Transportation; Intermediate Division*; and Senior Division presented by Sony Technology Center - Pittsburgh.

Judging: Candidates will be judged by a panel of professionals, including past winners, from related fields. The judges' decisions will be final.
Awards: $1,000 cash prizes to be applied to an identified project.
